Nominal Temperature Exceeded

What Caused the Problem?

The safe operating temperature of the enclosure has been exceeded. A fan has failed, an obstruction is blocking the air flow to or from the enclosure, or the temperature of the room is too high. The Recovery Guru Details area provides specific information you will need as you follow the Recovery Steps.

Caution: Potential loss of data access. If the temperature of the enclosure continues to rise, the affected enclosure may automatically shut down. Fix the problem immediately, before it becomes more serious.

Important Notes

Refer to the applicable hardware documentation for more information on the temperature specifications of the enclosure and how the enclosure handles over-temperature conditions.

The fans are contained within the power supply/cooling fan module. If a fan failure has been detected, refer to the fan failure procedures for details on how to correct this condition. Replacing the fan will require replacing the entire power supply/cooling fan module. Since there are multiple fans in each power supply/cooling fan unit, the enclosure will continue to run without the redundant power supply/cooling fan, but the power supply/cooling fan must be replaced within 5 minutes to avoid reaching the maximum temperature, which will result in an enclosure shutdown.

Recovery Steps

1

Check for fan failures being reported in the Recovery Guru Summary area.

If...

Then...

There are fan failures being reported

Select the failure and use the associated procedure to fix the failed fan. Then, go to step 2.

There are NO fan failures being reported

Remove any obstructions that may be blocking the air intakes or outlets. If no obstructions are found, correct any potential room cooling problems. Then, go to step 2.

2

Click Recheck to rerun the Recovery Guru. The failure should no longer appear in the Summary area.
