Cache Memory Mismatch

What Caused the Problem?

This problem can result from two situations:

  1. The two RAID controller modules have different sizes of total installed cache memory. For example, RAID Controller Module A has 2GB of total cache memory and RAID Controller Module B has 4GB of total cache memory.
  2. There is a mismatch in the attributes of the cache memory between the two RAID controller modules (such as the buffer layout version, raw pool sizes, or EDC enabled values).

Important Notes

Recovery Steps

1 Record the total cache memory size for each RAID controller module:
a From the Support tab, click the View Storage Array Profile link.
b Click the RAID Controller Modules tab.
c Scroll down and locate the "total data cache" field for each RAID controller module.
d
If... Then...
The total cache memory sizes for the RAID controller modules are different Go to step 2.
The total cache memory sizes for the RAID controller modules are the same You will need assistance from your technical support representative to resolve this problem.
  1. From the Support tab, click the Gather support information link, and then click the Save Support Information link. Complete the appropriate steps to save the support data to a .zip file.
  2. Contact your technical support representative and indicate that an "Cache Memory Size Mismatch" problem is being reported. Send the file you saved in step 1 to your representative and wait for further instruction.

Do not continue with the remaining Recovery Steps.

2
If... Then...
You know which RAID controller module you want to remove from the storage array (in other words, the RAID controller module that has the cache memory size you DO NOT want to keep) Go to step 3.
You do NOT know which RAID controller module you want to remove from the storage array You will need assistance from your technical support representative to resolve this problem.

3 Obtain a replacement RAID controller module that has the same sub-model and memory size as the RAID controller module you are leaving in the storage array.
4 Complete the following steps for the RAID controller module you want to remove:
a From the Support tab, click the Manage RAID Controller Modules link, and then click the Place RAID Controller Module Online of Offline link.
b Select the affected RAID controller module, then select Place RAID controller module offline.
c Click the OK button.
5 Read all of the following steps before taking any action.
a Click the Recheck button to rerun the Recovery Guru.
b Select the Offline RAID Controller Module problem that is being reported in the Summary area.
c Complete the Recovery Steps in the Offline RAID Controller Module to replace the RAID controller module.
6 Click Recheck to rerun the Recovery Guru. The failure should no longer appear in the Summary area. If the failure appears again, contact your technical support representative.
