Recovery Steps

1

Use the location information in the Recovery Guru Details area to identify the affected expansion enclosure and the location of the affected EMM.

Check the expansion enclosure to determine if the affected EMM module has actually be removed or is present but may not be seated correctly.

If... Then...
The affected EMM module is present  Caution: Potential for Data Loss. Make sure you correctly identify the module listed as removed. Removing the remaining optimal module while I/O is in progress can cause data loss.

Without removing the cables, remove the EMM module.

  • Check the female side of the module connector for dirty or plugged pin slots.
  • Look inside the enclosure that housed the module and check the male side of the module connector for damaged pins.
  • Clean any dirty or plugged pin slots and repair any damaged pins.
  • Reinsert the EMM module and wait 40 seconds for the storage array to detect and register the EMM module.
  • Go to step 2.
The affected EMM module has been removed If available, reinsert the removed EMM module. If the removed EMM module is not available, insert a replacement EMM module using the following notes:
  • Make sure that the replacement EMM module is the same as the EMM that is remaining in the expansion enclosure (hardware type and firmware version).
  • If the affected expansion enclosure uses EMM modules with external switches, verify that they are set to the same values as the switches on the remaining EMM.
  • Wait 40 seconds for the storage array to detect and register the EMM module.
  • Go to step 2.
