Changing Virtual Disk Media Scan Settings

Use the Change Media Scan Settings option to set the  settings for a single  or for multiple virtual disks on a . Perform the following steps:

Select a virtual disk or virtual disks in the Logical View, and select either the Virtual Disk >> Change >> Media Scan Settings.

Important:

  • If more than one virtual disk is selected, the media scan settings default to no settings selected. The current media scan settings are only shown if a single virtual disk is selected.
  • Changing the media scan settings using this option modifies the priority for all of the virtual disks you selected.

Select Enable background media scan check box, and select one of the consistency check options, as shown in the following table:

With consistency check

Use this option to perform a media scan with consistency check enabled.

A consistency check scans the blocks in a  or  virtual disk and checks the redundancy information for each block.

or

A consistency check compares data blocks on  mirrored physical disks.

Note:  virtual disks have no data redundancy.

Without consistency check

Use this option to perform a media scan with consistency check disabled.

Important: Use the Storage Array >> Change >> Media Scan Settings to view or change the frequency over which a scan is run. You must set the media scan duration using this option, or the media scan will not run on the desired virtual disks.
