Suspending a Mirrored Pair

Use the Suspend Remote Virtual Disk Mirroring dialog to suspend data transfer between a  and  participating in a , without removing the mirror relationship.

The Suspend Mirrored Pairs option enables you to control when the data on the primary virtual disk and secondary virtual disk should be synchronized. This option helps to reduce any performance impact to the  application that might occur while any changed data on the primary virtual disk is copied to the secondary virtual disk.

When a Remote Virtual Disk Mirror is in a , no attempt is made to contact the secondary virtual disk. Any writes to the primary virtual disk are persistently logged in the . After the mirrored pair is resumed, only the modified regions of the primary virtual disk are written to the secondary virtual disk.

 Caution: Potential loss of data access -- If the selected mirrored pair is part of a , you will automatically suspend all mirrored pairs in the write consistency group. Use the command line interface to resume single write-consistent mirrored pairs.

Use the following procedure to suspend a mirored pair:

Select Virtual Disk >> Remote Virtual Disk Mirroring >> Suspend.

Select one or more mirrored pairs to be suspended.

Click Suspend.
The Suspend Mirrored Pair - Confirmation dialog is displayed.

Type yes, and click OK.

Click OK.
The primary virtual disk and secondary virtual disk are displayed with an /Suspended status.
