Placing a RAID Controller Module Offline or Online

Placing a  offline makes it unavailable for I/O operations and moves its  to the other RAID controller module if failover protection is enabled.

Placing a RAID controller module online sets it to  and places it in an , available for I/O operations.

Note: The RAID controller module might be in an Offline state if it failed a diagnostics check.

Placing a RAID Controller Module Offline

Use the following procedure to place a RAID controller module offline:

Caution: Risk of data loss.

Important: Use this option only under the guidance of a Customer and Technical Support representative.

Note: This option is only available when the RAID controller module is online.

Select a RAID controller module in the Physical View, and select Advanced >> Recovery >> Place RAID Controller Module >> Offline.

Click Yes.

Placing a RAID Controller Module Online

If the  entry is set to Enabled and you are running a host-based, multi-path driver, then no action is required. The host-based, multi-path driver automatically initiates a transfer of virtual disks to their preferred RAID controller module.

Note that detection of a restored preferred path by the multi-path driver can take up to 10 minutes.

If the Auto Virtual Disk Transfer (AVT) entry is set to Disabled or you are not running a host based, multi-path driver, then select Advanced >> Redistribute Virtual Disks to move the formerly owned virtual disks back to this .

Note: This option is only available when the RAID controller module is offline.

Use the following procedure to place a RAID controller module online:

Select an offline RAID controller module in the Physical View, and select Advanced >> Recovery >> Place RAID Controller Module >> Online.

Click Yes.
