Hot Spare Disk Physical Disk Options

Use the options on the Hot Spare dialog to assign or unassign . A hot spare disk physical disk does not contain data. A hot spare disk physical disk acts as a standby in case any disk physical disk fails in a , , , or    on the . The hot spare disk physical disk adds another level of  to the storage array.

Select Physical Disk >> Hot Spare Coverage.

Select the radio button next to the correct option, as shown in the table.

Option

Description

View/change current hot spare coverage

Select this option to open the Hot Spare Physical Disk Coverage dialog. This option is always available.

Automatically assign disk physical disks

Select this option to create hot spare disk physical disks automatically for the best hot spare coverage using available disk physical disks. This option is always available.

Manually assign individual disk physical disks

Select this option to create hot spare disk physical disks out of the selected disk physical disks. This option is available only if disk physical disks have been selected in the Physical View.

Manually unassign individual disk physical disks

Select this option to unassign the selected hot spare disk physical disks. The option is available only if disk physical disks have been selected in the Physical View.

Click OK.

To unassign a hot spare disk physical disk, type yes in the text box and click OK.
