Use the Delete Virtual Disks option to delete
Using this option results in an increase of free capacity in the
Caution: Risk of data loss – Deleting virtual disks causes loss of all data on those virtual disks. Before performing this operation, perform the following tasks:
- Back up the data on the virtual disks.
- Stop all I/O activity to the virtual disks you plan to delete.
- Unmount any file system on the virtual disks.
Important:
- Deleting a
automatically deletes any associated snapshot virtual disk and . - Deleting a snapshot virtual disk automatically deletes any associated snapshot repository virtual disks.
- You cannot delete a snapshot repository virtual disk directly using the Delete Virtual Disk option. However, this virtual disk is deleted if you delete either of its associated source virtual disk or snapshot virtual disk.
- Deleting a virtual disk that is participating in a
relationship removes the mirror relationship on both the local and remote .
- Deleting a virtual disk does not delete the remote virtual disk that was participating in the Remote Virtual Disk Mirror and the data on the remote virtual disk remains intact.
- If the Remote Virtual Disk Mirror definition is successfully removed on the local storage array but a communication error prevents the definition from being removed on the remote storage array, then open the
for the remote storage array, select the virtual disk that was participating in the mirror relationship, and select Virtual Disk >> Remote Virtual Disk Mirroring >> Remove Mirror Relationship. - Deleting a
or will remove all related information associated with the virtual disk copy, but will not delete its associated virtual disk. For example, if you delete the source virtual disk, the data on the target virtual disk remains intact. - You cannot delete a virtual disk that has one of the following conditions:
- It is undergoing a modification operation, such as a change of
, unless the virtual disk is now in a state - It is a
. Select Storage Array >> Remote Virtual Disk Mirroring >> Deactivate to deactivate the Remote Virtual Disk Mirroring feature and automatically remove the two Mirror Repository Virtual Disks on the storage array. - It is holding any type of
. - It is a source virtual disk or target virtual disk in a virtual disk copy that has a status of Pending, In Progress, or Failed.

Select Virtual Disk >> Delete. The Delete Virtual Disks dialog appears. |

Click Delete. The Confirm Delete Virtual Disk(s) dialog appears. |

Either select all the virtual disks in the list that you want to delete or click Select All to highlight all virtual disks, and click OK. Note:

Type yes, and click OK. The Delete Virtual Disk-Progress dialog is displayed while all the virtual disks are being deleted.
