What are the rules for assigning a name to a virtual disk?

When you assign a name to a , it lets you differentiate between one virtual disk and another.

You can see the virtual disk names that you currently use. Click the Summary tab, and then click Disk groups & virtual disks.

Rules for Naming

Use these rules when assigning a name to virtual disks:

• Names can contain a maximum of 30 characters.
• Names can include letters, numbers, and the special characters underscore (_), minus (-), and pound sign (#). No other special characters are permitted.
• Use a clear, meaningful name that is easy to understand and to remember. Avoid arbitrary names or names that lose their meaning in the future.
