About the Tree View

The Tree view is one of two Enterprise Management Window views. The Tree view provides a tree-structured view of nodes. Double-click on the node or host node to expand or collapse the view of its child nodes. If you double-click on a storage array node, it launches the Array Management Window for that particular storage array.

The Device Tree view is one of two Enterprise Management Window views. The Device Tree view provides a tree-structured view of nodes. Double-click the storage management station node or the host node to expand or collapse the view of its child nodes. If you double-click a storage array node, it launches the Array Management Window for that particular storage array.

The node, labeled with its machine name ("Storage Management Station" in the example at left), is always present in the Tree view. When storage arrays and hosts with attached storage arrays are added to the Enterprise Management Window, they become child nodes of the storage management station node. As shown In the example at left, the first child nodes of the storage management station are always the storage management type. Then Host Kansas City, Host Omaha, and Storage Array Midwest are all child nodes of their respective management type.

Note: If you move the mouse over the storage management station node, a tooltip displays the machine IP address.

Child Nodes of the Storage Management Types

Description

Represents a host machine, with attached storage arrays.

Note: If you move the mouse over a host node, a tooltip displays the IP address of the host.

A storage array node may be either or in-band.

Notes:

  • Any in-band storage arrays are child nodes of the host node.
  • If a storage array is managed through multiple hosts, it will be duplicated in the Tree view under each host node to which it is attached.
  • If you hold the mouse over an out-of-band storage array node, a tooltip displays the host name and IP address of each RAID controller module in the storage array. The host name and IP address for each RAID controller module do not display for storage array nodes that are in-band.
  • The icon that represents the storage array indicates its connection or the storage array hardware status. For more information, see Monitoring Storage Array Status.
  • If you move the mouse over an out-of-band storage array node, a tooltip displays the host name and IP address of each RAID controller module in the storage array. The host name and IP address for each RAID controller module do not display for storage array nodes that are in-band.
  • The icon that represents the storage array indicates its connection status or the storage array hardware status. For more information, see Monitoring Device Status.

Storage arrays that you add that were not accessible at the time of the Add Storage Array operation.

About the Table View

Each managed storage array is represented by a single row in the Table view. The columns in the Table view display data about the managed storage array, as follows.

Column

Description

Name

The name of the managed storage array. If the managed storage array is unnamed, the default name is "Unnamed."

Type

The type of managed storage array. This is represented by an icon as shown in the figure at the beginning of this topic.

Status

An icon and a text label reporting the true status of the managed storage array. For more information, see Monitoring Storage Array Status.

Network Management Type

Column Value

Description

Out-of-Band

This is an out-of-band storage array.

In-Band (<name-of-host>)

This is an in-band storage array, managed through a single host.

Out-of-Band, In-Band (<name-of-host>)

This is a storage array that is both out-of-band and in-band through a single host.

In-Band (<name-of-host>, <name-of-host>)...

This is an in-band storage array, managed through multiple hosts.

Out-of-Band, In-Band (<name-of-host>,<name-of-host>)...

This is a storage array that is both out-of-band and in-band managed, through multiple hosts.

Comment

Any comments that you have entered about the particular managed storage array.

Note: Sort the rows in the Table View in ascending or descending order by either clicking a column heading, or selecting View >> By Name, View >> By Status, View >> By Management Type, or View >> By Comment.

Displaying Managed Storage Arrays in the Table View

You can change the way managed storage arrays appear in the table view.

Navigating within the Enterprise Management Window

In addition to using the mouse, you can also use the keyboard for navigation:

About the Overall Health Status Area

The Overall Health Status is shown in the lower-left corner of the Enterprise Management Window, and the status displays a consolidated health status for all of the known managed devices. For more information, see Monitoring Device Status.

About the Progress Line and Progress Bar

At the bottom of the Enterprise Management Window, to the right of the Overall Health Status area, is the Progress Line and the Progress bar.
