EMM Module - Loss of Communication

What Caused the Problem?

Communication has been lost to one of the dual EMM modules in an expansion enclosure. The expansion enclosure has only one I/O path available. The Recovery Guru Details area provides specific information you will need as you follow the recovery steps.

  Caution: Electrostatic discharge can damage sensitive components. Always use proper antistatic protection when handling components. Touching components without using a proper ground may damage equipment.

Fix any other problems reported by the Recovery Guru before attempting to fix this problem.

Identify the EMM module with the failure condition. The status LED on the EMM module may be OFF. Remove and reseat the EMM module. Wait 40 seconds, then go to step 3.

  Caution: Possible loss of data accessibility. Do not disconnect any cables on the working channel. Doing so may cause a possible loss of data accessibility.

Click the Recheck button to rerun the Recovery Guru. The failure should no longer appear in the Summary area. If the failure appears again, Go to Step 4.

Replace the EMM module. Make sure that the replacement EMM module is the same hardware type as the EMM module that is remaining in the expansion enclosure.

  Caution: Possible loss of data accessibility. Do not disconnect any cables on the working channel. Doing so may cause a possible loss of data accessibility.

Reconnect the cables to the replaced EMM module. Wait 40 seconds, then go to step 6.

Click the Recheck button to rerun the Recovery Guru. The failure should no longer appear in the Summary area. If the failure appears again, make sure you identified the correct EMM module as failed, correct any problems, and repeat step 6. If there is still a failure reported, contact your technical support representative.
