Viewing Storage Array Logical Components and Physical Components

Use the Logical/Physical Components view to perform the following functions:

Perform the following steps:

1

Select View >> Logical/Physical.

The Logical View appears in the left pane, and the Physical View appears in the right pane.

Logical View

Provides a view of the logical components on the storage array in a tree structure. The logical components include the disk groups, virtual disks, , and any unconfigured capacity for the storage array.

Tip: To expand or collapse the view of the child nodes, click the plus or minus sign beside the node.

Physical View

Displays a graphical representation of the physical components on the storage array, such as the  enclosure and disk expansion enclosures.

A blue association dot appears next to these items:

  • The RAID controller module identified as the current owner of a virtual disk that is selected in the Logical View.
  • The disk physical disks associated with a virtual disk that is selected in the Logical View.

The Components button appears for every disk expansion enclosure and shows the status and temperature of all enclosure components.

Note: The actual layout of the RAID controller module determines the orientation of the Physical View. For example, if the RAID controller module has horizontal disk expansion enclosures, the storage management software will show horizontal disk expansion enclosures in the Physical View.

2

In the Logical View, select a disk group or virtual disk.

The associated RAID controller module enclosure and disk physical disks appear in the Physical View.
