Learn About Using the Mappings View

The of the contains two panes: the Topology View and the Defined Mappings View.

Note: Resize either pane by dragging the splitter bar, located between the two panes, to the right or to the left.

About the Topology View

The Topology View is one of two panes in the Mappings View of the Array Management Window. The Topology View provides a tree-structured view of logical nodes related to . Click the plus or minus sign beside the node to expand or collapse the view.

The , or root node, has four types of child nodes. Click the pop-up glossary topic for a description of the node.

Description of child nodes

The Undefined Mappings Node has one possible type of child node, as shown in the following table:

Child Node of the Undefined Mappings Node	Description
Individual Undefined Mapping	Represents a with an undefined mapping. There can be multiple virtual disk nodes under an Undefined Mappings node. The virtual disk name is shown.

Note: If the Storage Partitioning feature is disabled, all created virtual disks are in the Default Group.

A Default Group Node has two possible types of child nodes, as shown in the following table:

Child Nodes of the Default Group Node	Description
	Defined host groups that are not participating in specific mappings are listed. This node can have host child nodes, which can have child HBA host port nodes.
	Defined hosts that are not part of a specific host group (but are part of the Default Group) and are not participating in specific mappings are listed. This node can have child HBA host port nodes.

Host Group

A Host Group Node has two possible types of child nodes, as shown in the following table:

Defined hosts that belong to this defined host group are listed. This node can have child HBA host port nodes.

Note: The host nodes that are child nodes of this host group can also participate in mappings specific to the individual host rather than the host group.

Description

HBA Host Ports

This placeholder node has child nodes that represent all HBA host ports (a single port on a ) associated with this host.

Storage Partition Icon

The storage partition icon , when present in the Topology View, indicates a storage partition has been defined for the Default Group, a host group or a host. This icon is also displayed in the status bar of the Mappings View window when storage partitions have been defined.

About the Defined Mappings View

The Defined Mappings View displays the mappings associated with a node selected in the Topology View.

The information shown in the following table is displayed for a selected node.

Column Name	Description
Virtual Disk Name	The user-supplied virtual disk name. The factory-configured is also displayed in this column. An Access Virtual Disk mapping is not required for storage arrays with an connection and can be removed. For more information, see Removing an Access Virtual Disk Mapping.
Accessible By	Displays the topological element (Default Group, a defined host group or a defined host) that has been granted access to the virtual disk in the mapping.
LUN	The LUN number assigned to the particular virtual disk, that the hosts use to access the virtual disk.
Virtual Disk Capacity	Displays the virtual disk capacity in units of GB.
Type	Indicates whether the virtual disk is a standard or .

The information displayed in the Defined Mappings View varies according to what node you select in the Topology View, as shown in the following table:

Node Selected	Defined Mappings View Display
Root (storage array) node	All defined mappings.
Default Group Node or any of its child nodes	All mappings that are currently defined for the Default Group (if any).
Host Group Node (outside of Default Group)	All mappings that are currently defined for the Host Group.
Host Node that is a child node of a Host Group Node	All mappings that are currently defined for the Host Group, plus any mappings specifically defined for a particular host.
HBA Host Ports Node or individual HBA host port node outside of the Default Group	All mappings that are currently defined for the HBA host port's associated host.
