Create Snapshot Virtual Disk Wizard: Specify Disk Group Parameters

This dialog lets you specify a new  where the  will reside. Use this dialog to specify the  level of the disk group that will meet the data storage of the snapshot repository virtual disk and protection requirements.

Specify the RAID level that meets your snapshot repository virtual disk data storage and protection requirements.

RAID level choices include , , , , and . Set the RAID level to the same RAID level as the .

Select a method for defining which available disk physical disks to use in the disk group, and perform the applicable action as described in the table. The Automatic method is the default selection.

Method

Description and Action

Automatic

Lets you choose from a list of disk group capacity choices selected by the software. A table shows disk group capacities and how many disk physical disks comprise the disk group.

Note: Your choice of RAID level affects the capacities of the listed disk groups.

Action

Select one disk group, and click Next.

Manual

Lets you select which specific disk physical disks comprise the disk group. A table shows disk physical disk location information and individual disk physical disk capacities.

Note: Your choice of RAID level affects the resulting capacity of the disk group.

Important:

  • Only experts who understand disk physical disk  and optimal disk physical disk configurations should use this option.
  • Limits exist to how much disk physical disk space capacity that you can have in a single disk group. These limits vary according to your . Refer to the Storage System Product Release Notes for specific limits.

Action

Either select a disk physical disk or press Ctrl-click to select multiple disk physical disks to include in the disk group, and click Apply.

Important: RAID 1/10 requires an even number of disk physical disks, and RAID 3 and RAID 5 require a minimum of three disk physical disks. RAID 6 requires a minimum of five disk physical disks. If you do not select the applicable number of disk physical disks for the chosen RAID level, an error message appears. Change your disk physical disk selections, and click Apply again.
