Viewing Snapshot Repository Virtual Disk Properties

Use the Snapshot Repository Virtual Disk - Properties dialog to view the  base and capacity properties. This dialog might also specify the capacity percentage full and the action to be taken if the snapshot repository virtual disk becomes full.

The progress of modification operations is displayed at the bottom of the dialog.

Accessing the Snapshot Repository Virtual Disk Properties Dialog

To access the Snapshot Repository Virtual Disk - Properties dialog, select a snapshot repository virtual disk in the Logical View of the Array Management Window. Then, select either the Virtual Disk >> Properties, or Properties from the right-mouse pop-up menu.

The Snapshot Repository Virtual Disk - Properties dialog is displayed.

Viewing Base Information

The Base tab of the Snapshot Repository Virtual Disk - Properties dialog displays the following information for the selected snapshot repository virtual disk:

Setting Capacity Properties

Use the Capacity tab to view or set the snapshot repository virtual disk capacity properties shown in the following table:

Capacity Parameter

Description

Snapshot Repository Virtual Disk Percentage Full

Enables a  to be set for the snapshot repository virtual disk capacity. After the defined percentage is reached, a warning is issued indicating that the repository is nearing its capacity. The default percentage setting is 50 percent of the snapshot repository virtual disks maximum capacity.

Use the spinner box to define the percentage at which a warning is issued.

Repository Full Policy

After a snapshot repository virtual disk has reached its capacity and becomes full, one of the following actions occurs:

  • Fail snapshot virtual disk
  • Fail writes to source virtual disk

Failing the snapshot virtual disk is set as the default. This setting fails the snapshot virtual disk, stopping all I/O activity to the snapshot and snapshot repository virtual disks.

Failing writes to the source virtual disk cause the snapshot virtual disk to go offline, and all I/O data is written to the source virtual disk.

Select the radio button of the action to be performed, and click OK to save changes.

Viewing the Progress of a Modification Operation

The progress bar at the bottom of the Snapshot Repository Virtual Disk - Properties dialog displays the progress of an operation.

You can view the progress of the following operations:

Important: The storage management software cannot obtain progress information from the  RAID controller modules if the network management connection to the RAID controller modules is down or if the storage array is partially managed.
