Changing the Storage Array Media Scan Settings

Use the Change Media Scan Settings option to enable a    and to specify the duration period (in days) for which you want the media scan to run. You can set the duration within minimum and maximum values supplied by the storage management software. When enabled, the media scan runs on all  in the storage array that have the following conditions:

Important Use the Virtual Disk >> Change >> Media Scan Settings option to enable media scans for each virtual disk in the storage array. For more information, see Setting Virtual Disk Media Scan Settings.

Use the following procedure to change the media scan settings on the storage array:

Select the storage array from the , and select Storage Array >> Change >> Media Scan Settings.

Select the Enable background media scan check box, if it is not already selected.

Select a number in the Duration field to specify the duration (in days) of the media scan.

The Media Scan duration specifies the number of days over which the media scan should run on the eligible virtual disks.

Note: The  uses the duration period, with its knowledge of which virtual disks must be scanned, to determine a constant rate at which to perform media scan activities. This rate is maintained regardless of  I/O activity.
