Using Data Transfer

Disabling data transfer ensures that the  is no longer available for I/O operations.

Disabling Data Transfer

Perform the following steps:

Caution: Possible loss of access to data - If you perform this operation while a  is using  owned by this RAID controller module, the I/O directed to this RAID controller module path is rejected. Ensure that either the virtual disks are not in use, or that there is a  installed on all hosts using these virtual disks.

Caution: Possible loss of access to data - When data transfer is disabled, virtual disks owned by the affected RAID controller module are likely to be completely inaccessible by any attached hosts. Some host multi-path drivers might initiate a virtual disk ownership transfer to the opposite RAID controller module, but that transfer is not guaranteed.

Important: Use this option only under the guidance of a Customer and Technical Support representative.

Select a RAID controller module in the Physical View, and select Advanced >> Recovery >> Disable RAID Controller Module Data Transfer .

Type yes in the box, and click OK.

The RAID controller module no longer accepts I/O and is marked with a dashed red border in the Physical View. If a multi-path driver is in use, I/O will be sent to the other RAID controller module path, initiating a virtual disk ownership transfer.

Enabling Data Transfer

Select a RAID controller module in the Physical View; and select Advanced >> Recovery >> Enable RAID Controller Module Data Transfer.

The RAID controller module resumes normal operation and accepts I/O.
