Changing a Primary Mirrored Virtual Disk to a Secondary Virtual Disk

Use the Change Role to Secondary option to perform a  between the two paired  in a . This option demotes a selected  to become the  of the mirrored pair. If the associated secondary virtual disk can be contacted, the secondary virtual disk is automatically promoted to be the primary virtual disk. Use this option for role reversals during normal operating conditions. You can also use this option during a Recovery Guru procedure for a  Remote Virtual Disk Mirror status condition.

Important:

Select the primary virtual disk in the Logical View, then, select Virtual Disk >> Remote Virtual Disk Mirroring >> Change >> Role to Secondary.

Click Yes.

The primary virtual disk is demoted to be the secondary virtual disk in the Remote Virtual Disk Mirror. If the  of the secondary virtual disk can be contacted, the secondary virtual disk is automatically promoted to be the primary virtual disk in the Remote Virtual Disk Mirror.

Example

The above example of a Logical View shows the primary virtual disk Accounting and the secondary virtual disk Accounting2, from a remote .

After selecting the primary virtual disk Accounting and using the Change >> Role to Secondary option, the virtual disk Accounting is displayed as a secondary virtual disk in the Logical View. The (former) secondary virtual disk Accounting2, from a remote storage array, is now the primary virtual disk of the Remote Virtual Disk Mirror and is no longer displayed in the  for Storage Array East.
