Changing the Network Configuration Settings of a RAID Controller Module

Use the Change Network Configuration option to modify a   ,  address, or network , or enable  or .

  Caution: Potential security risk - Only enable remote login to allow Customer and Technical Support access to the RAID controller module. Leaving remote login enabled during normal operation poses a potential security risk. If you enable remote login for Customer and Technical Support to access your system, disable it when the session is completed to prevent unauthorized access to the system. Disabling remote login terminates any current remote login sessions, and any new remote login requests are rejected.

Select a RAID controller module in the Physical View.

Select RAID Controller Module >> Change >> Network Configuration.

A separate tab is provided for each RAID controller module, which displays the Ethernet , the  address, and the  name. Each tab displays the radio buttons for setting the IP address or enabling BOOTP.

Select Ethernet Port from the drop-down list to display the corresponding MAC address.

Select one of the following radio buttons:

Obtain configuration from DHCP/BOOTP server

This option enables you to obtain an IP address using a DHCP or BOOTP server.

Specify configuration

This option allows you to specify the RAID controller module's IP address, including the gateway address and network subnet mask.

Important:

  • If you change your IP address, you lose the management path to the . You must remove the device from the Enterprise Management Window (EMW) and then add it back to the EMW by selecting Edit >> Add device and typing in the new IP address. Refer to the EMW online help for more information.
  • If you enable BOOTP for a RAID controller module, the IP address for that RAID controller module becomes disabled.

Click OK to display a confirmation dialog.

Click Yes to close the Change Network Configuration dialog.

Setting Advanced Network Configuration

Use the Advanced Network Configuration option to allow or disallow remote administration for this RAID controller module. This feature permits administrators from outside of the local area network to change settings on the RAID controller module.

  Caution: Potential security risk - Only enable remote login to allow Customer and Technical Support access to the RAID controller module. Leaving remote login enabled during normal operation poses a potential security risk. If you enable remote login for Customer and Technical Support to access your system, disable it when the session is completed to prevent unauthorized access to the system. Disabling remote login terminates any current remote login sessions, and any new remote login requests are rejected.

Select a RAID controller module in the Physical View.

Do one of the following to display the Change Network Configuration dialog:

  • Select RAID Controller Module >> Change >> Network Configuration.
  • Right-click and select Change >> Network Configuration from the pop-up menu.

Click the tab representing the RAID controller module you want to change, then select Advanced to display the Advanced Network Configuration dialog.

Select Enable remote login to RAID controller module check box to allow outside parties to administer the RAID controller module you chose.

Deselect the check box to disallow remote administration of the RAID controller module.

Click OK to display a confirmation dialog.

Click Yes.

Close the Advanced Network Configuration dialog, and then close the Change Network Configuration dialog.
