Changing a Storage Array's Default Host Type

Use the Change Default Host Type option to change the default  at the  level.

The host type defines how the  in the storage array work with the  operating system when  are accessed. The only time you will use this option is if you need to change how the storage array operates relative to the hosts that are connected to it. Generally, you will use this option only if all hosts connected to the storage array have the same operating system (homogeneous host environment).

If you are in an environment where there are attached hosts with different operating systems (hetergeneous host environment), you will define the individual host types as part of creating . Changing the default host type with Storage Partitioning enabled will only affect any hosts you do not define in the  and any virtual disks mapped in the . Before setting up multiple hosts for a heterogeneous environment, be sure to read the information in Restricted Logical Unit Number (LUN) Mapping.

The host type must be changed if:

Important: If an incorrect host type is selected, existing virtual disks should still be visible, but  through the multi-path driver (if installed) could fail.
