A storage array that is managed over the network using Ethernet connections. An out-of-band storage array is in contrast to an in-band storage array, which is managed through connections over its network and I/O connections. You can manage a storage array using either out-of-band or in-band management connections, or both.
Note: In previous versions of this software, an out-of-band storage array was called a directly managed storage array.
