Learn About Configuration Files

The uses primary and backup configuration files (emwdata.bin and emwback.bin) to store the following information:

These user-specific configuration files enable each system administrator to create a unique view of the devices being managed, without affecting the information shown to other system administrators.

Both configuration files are stored in a default directory depending on your operating system. If needed, you can use your operating system's find option to locate these files. Typically, these files are in a subdirectory of the storage management software's installation directory.

Important: Make backup copies of these files, and place them in another directory in the event a problem with the master configuration files occurs.

The backup configuration file (emwback.bin), is not immediately synchronized with the primary configuration file (emwdata.bin), in case the primary file is corrupted.
