Can I create a virtual disk copy on a storage array that is running Microsoft Cluster Server?
You can create virtual disk copies for a Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) storage array. You can choose one of these options
to create a virtual disk copy:
- Use the Cluster Administrator to set the cluster resource group containing the source virtual disk offline.
- If the source virtual disk is the cluster quorum physical disk, stop the Cluster Service on both cluster nodes.
Note:
Stopping the Cluster Service on both nodes is not recommended for applications that require high availability.
- Create a snapshot virtual disk of the source virtual disk, and then create a virtual disk copy of the snapshot virtual disk.
