Discrete Lines Diagnostic Failure

What Caused the Problem?

A problem occurred during the Discrete Lines Diagnostics. The Discrete Lines are dedicated control and status lines between the RAID controller modules that reside in the Interconnect-battery module. The Recovery Guru Details area provides specific information you will need as you follow the Recovery Steps.

Caution: Electrostatic discharge can damage sensitive components. Always use proper antistatic protection when handling components. Touch components without using a proper ground may damage the equipment.

Important Notes

Recovery Steps

1 Place the affected RAID controller module offline.
a Refer to the Details area to determine which RAID controller module reported the problem.
b Select the affected RAID controller module in the physical view of the Array Management Window.
c Select Advanced >> Recovery >> Place RAID Controller Module >> Offline.
d Complete the instructions in the dialog, then select Yes.
2 Read all of the following steps before taking any action.
a Click the Recheck button to rerun the Recovery Guru.
b Select the "Offline RAID Controller Module" problem that is being reported in the Summary area.
c Complete the Recovery Steps in the "Offline RAID Controller Module" recovery procedure to replace the affected RAID controller module.

When finished, go to step 3.

3 Rerun the Discrete Lines Diagnostic.
a Select the RAID controller module in the physical view of the Array Management Window.
b Select the Advanced >> Troubleshooting >> Run Diagnostics >> Discrete Lines menu option.

The problem still appears in the Summary area Go to step 4.
The problem no longer appears in the Summary area The problem is fixed. Do not continue with the Recovery Steps.
4 If replacing the RAID controller module that reported the problem did not fix the problem, repeat steps 1 through 3 for the alternate RAID controller module.

If replacing both RAID controller modules did not fix the problem, go to step 5.

5 Follow the Recovery Steps for a Failed Interconnect-battery module, but do not discard the module, as the problem may be in a different component.

From the Array Management Window, select Help >> Reference Recovery Procedures, and then select Failed Interconnect-Battery Module from the list.

When you are finished, go to step 6.

6 Rerun the Discrete Lines Diagnostic.
a Select a RAID controller module in the physical view of the Array Management Window.
