Use host card diagnostics to determine these statuses of the host interface card:
The boot-level diagnostics run automatically and compare writes from and reads to one on more registers or the I/O chip of the host card.
The basic diagnostics are specific to the type of host card: 2-Gb FC, 4-Gb FC, InfiniBand, iSCSI, and others.
The basic diagnostics take approximately 30 seconds to complete.
The extended diagnostics are specific to the type of host card: 2-Gb FC, 4-Gb FC, InfiniBand, iSCSI, and others.
The diagnostics take approximately five minutes to complete.
If the RAID controller module cannot perform the diagnostics, a message appears that indicates that the diagnostics could not begin.
You can verify the status of extended diagnostics. The RAID controller module responds with one of these statuses:
When you check the status, the following information appears:
Diagnostic results include these statuses:
|
Status |
Explanation |
|
Optimal |
All ports or initiators can transport I/O. |
|
Degraded
|
One or more ports or initiators cannot transport I/O, but at least one port or initiator can connect and transport I/O. |
|
Failed
|
The host card cannot transport I/O on any port or initiator. |
Diagnostic results are stored until diagnostics are run again.
