Topology

An interconnected set of nodes.

A logical topology, in the context of  definitions, is a collection of , , , and  nodes in the Topology View of the  window.

A physical topology, for  with   , is the interconnect method between a storage array  and a host. Select Storage Array >> View >> Profile to view one of the following values in the Topology field:

Topology

Description

Point-to-Point

The RAID controller module  and host bus adapter (HBA) host port are directly connected as N-ports (non-loop).

 - Public

The RAID controller module port is connected to a switch port using a Fibre Channel arbitrated loop. The HBA host port may be on the local loop or connected to the switch.

Devices on the loop and storage arrays attached to the switch can communicate with each other.

Arbitrated Loop - Private

The RAID controller module port and HBA host port are connected by a Fibre Channel arbitrated loop.

Fabric Attach

The RAID controller module port is connected as an N-port to the fabric (switch) port. The HBA host port is connected somewhere else in the fabric. The switch facilitates communication between the RAID controller module port and the HBA host port.
