Tips on updating your physical disk firmware package

Download physical disk  packages to the physical disks only if the physical disks in your  are experiencing firmware-related limitations or performance issues. Physical Disk firmware packages should be obtained only from your storage supplier.

 Caution: Risk of application errors - Stop all I/O activity to the storage array prior to the download to prevent application errors. Before beginning any physical disk firmware downloads, ensure all data on affected physical disks has been backed up.

Before downloading physical disk firmware packages to every physical disk in your storage array, consider downloading to just a few physical disks to ensure the downloads finish without errors and to test the performance of the new firmware. When you are satisfied that the new firmware works acceptably, download the package to the rest of the physical disks.

Do not physically remove any physical disks that have been selected to receive firmware packages. This action causes the download to fail.
