Specify the virtual disk I/O characteristics for the virtual disk based on your application needs. The expected I/O characteristics of the virtual disk are used by the When you specify expected I/O characteristics, the corresponding default dynamic cache read prefetch setting and segment size values that are typically well suited for those I/O patterns are populated in the Dynamic cache read prefetch and Segment size areas. Choose from the following virtual disk I/O characteristics:
Note: The dynamic cache read prefetch may be changed later by selecting Virtual Disk >> Change >> Cache Settings. For more information, see Changing Virtual Disk Cache Settings. Important: The virtual disk's segment size might be changed later by selecting Change Segment Size. However, any change in segment size is restricted to a multiple of the current segment size, or a divider of 2 from the current segment size. For example, if you set the segment size to 64 KB when you first create the virtual disk, you can only change it to 32 KB or 128 KB by selecting Change Segment Size. |
