Viewing and Saving Error Details

Use the Error dialog, displayed by the storage management software when an error is encountered, to view or hide error details and to save error details to a text file. Your Customer and Technical Support representative uses the error details provided in the text file to diagnose problems.

Viewing or Hiding Error Details

On the Error dialog, select Show Details.

Error details are displayed, including environmental details and a RAID controller module firmware stack dump and thread dump. If multiple errors are encountered, environmental details are displayed once for all errors, followed by individual error, stack, and thread dump information.

To hide error details, select Hide Details on the Error dialog.

Saving Error Details to a Text File

On the Error dialog, click Show Details.

Click Save As.

Select an appropriate directory.

Type the file name of your choice in the File Name field. You do not need to specify a file extension, but to associate the file with a particular software application that will open it, an extension, such as .txt, is helpful.

Example: Name the file Southwest SA Error 040104. This name identifies the (Southwest) and the date of the error (040104).

Click Save.

An ASCII text file containing the error information data is saved to the selected directory.
