Removed Fan or Fan Module

What Caused the Problem?

A fan or fan module has been removed from the storage array. The Recovery Guru Details area provides specific information you will need as you follow the recovery steps.

 Caution: Possible loss of data accessibility. Do not remove a component when either (1) the Service action (removal) allowed (SAA) field in the Details area of this recovery procedure is NO (), or (2) the SAA LED on the affected component is OFF (note that some products do not have SAA LEDs). Removing a component while its SAA LED is OFF may result in temporary loss of access to your data. Refer to the following Important Notes for more detail.

 Caution: Electrostatic discharge can damage sensitive components. Always use proper antistatic protection when handling components. Touching components without using a proper ground may damage the equipment.

Recovery Steps

1 Refer to the 'Component requiring service' field in the Details area.
If... Then...
The component requiring service is the fan module Go to step 2.
The component requiring service is the power-fan module that contains the fan Complete the first task below, then click the Recheck button before proceeding to the next task:
a Replace any components that were recently removed.
b Replace any components that are being reported as failed in the Summary area.
c Complete the Recovery Steps for any other problem reported in the Summary area.
d If this problem is still reported in the Summary area after completing the three steps above, contact your technical support representative to assist you with correcting this problem. Do not continue with the remaining Recovery Steps.
2 If the fan module does not appear to be missing from the storage array, re-seat the fan module in the enclosure by removing it and reinserting it.
4 If you are replacing the fan module with a new unit, then check the model of the fan module you removed and ensure that the new fan module is the same model.

If you do not have a module that is the same model, contact your technical support representative.

5 Insert the new or original module securely into place.
6 Click the Recheck button to rerun the Recovery Guru. The failure should no longer appear in the Summary area. If the failure appears again, contact your technical support representative.
