Virtual Disk Copy Premium Feature - Out Of Compliance

What Caused the Problem?

The Virtual Disk Copy Premium Feature is out of compliance.

Procedure for Scenario 1

If... Then...
You want to resolve this problem by enabling the Virtual Disk Copy feature key Go to step 2.
You want to resolve this problem by removing virtual disk copy pairs until you are below the limit allowed by the storage array Reduce the number of Virtual Disk Copy pairs to equal to or less than the number of Virtual Disk Copy pairs allowed. The maximum number of Virtual Disk Copy pairs is listed in the Recovery Guru Details area.
a Select the Virtual Disk >> Copy >> Copy Manager menu option in the Array Management Window.
b Select the virtual disk copy pair you want to remove, and then select Copy >> Remove Copy Pairs.
c After you have removed the appropriate number of Virtual Disk Copy pairs, go to step 3.
2 Select the Storage Array >> Premium Features menu option in the Array Management Window.
If... Then...
The Virtual Disk Copy feature appears in this dialog (regardless of status) A separate Feature Key File is needed to enable the Virtual Disk Copy feature. If the Virtual Disk Copy feature has already been enabled at any time for this storage array, you should already have a Feature Key File. Otherwise, you will need to perform the following:
  • Retrieve the Feature Enable Identifier from the Premium Features dialog.
  • Contact your technical support representative to request a Feature Key File.
  • Once you have located your existing Feature Key File or obtained the appropriate Feature Key File from your technical support representative, click the Enable button to enable it.
  • When you are finished enabling the feature, go to step 3.
The Virtual Disk Copy feature does NOT appear in this dialog Your storage array cannot support the Virtual Disk Copy feature.

It is possible that you can upgrade to a Feature Pack that will allow support for the Virtual Disk Copy feature.  You can contact your technical support representative to see if your storage array can be upgraded to a different Feature Pack, or you can repeat step 1 to remove the extra Virtual Disk Copy pairs now.

3 Click the Recheck button to rerun the Recovery Guru. The failure should no longer appear in the Summary area. If the failure appears again, contact your technical support representative.

 

Procedure for Scenario 2

You want to enable the Virtual Disk Copy feature Go to step 2.
You want to disable the Virtual Disk Copy feature Go to step 3.
2 Select the Storage Array >> Premium Features menu option in the Array Management Window.
If... Then...
The Virtual Disk Copy feature appears in this dialog (regardless of status) A separate Feature Key File is needed to enable the Virtual Disk Copy feature. If the Virtual Disk Copy feature has already been enabled at any time for this storage array, you should already have a Feature Key File. Otherwise, you will need to perform the following:
  • Retrieve the Feature Enable Identifier from the Premium Features dialog.
  • Contact your technical support representative to request a Feature Key File.
  • Once you have located your existing Feature Key File or obtained the appropriate Feature Key File from your technical support representative, click the Enable button to enable it.

3 Refer to the Details area to see how many Virtual Disk Copy pairs are present.
If... Then...
There are currently Virtual Disk Copy pairs that need to be removed before disabling the feature Remove all of the Virtual Disk Copy pairs.
a Select the Virtual Disk >> Copy >> Copy Manager menu option in the Array Management Window.
b Select a virtual disk copy pair to remove, and then select Copy >> Remove Copy Pairs.
c After you have removed all of the Virtual Disk Copy pairs, go to step 4.
There are no Virtual Disk Copy pairs Go to step 4.

 

4 Disable the Virtual Disk Copy feature.
a Select the Storage Array >> Premium Features menu option in the Array Management Window.
b Select the Virtual Disk Copy feature from the list.
c Click the Disable button.
d Go to step 5.
5 Click the Recheck button to rerun the Recovery Guru. The failure should no longer appear in the Summary area. If the failure appears again, contact your technical support representative.
