Failing a Disk Physical Disk

Use the Fail Physical Disk option to fail a selected disk physical disk or multiple disk physical disks.

Caution: Potential loss of data access.

Important: Use this option only under the guidance of a Customer and Technical Support representative.

In the Physical View, select one or more disk physical disks, and select Advanced >> Recovery >> Fail disk physical disk.

Type yes, and click OK.

The disk physical disks fail, and the dialog closes. The disk physical disk in the Physical View appears in the  state in the selected mode.

Note: If you plan to remove the disk physical disk, wait at least 30 seconds before you remove it.

If this disk physical disk was assigned to a , then the Logical View changes are shown in the table.

Condition

Logical View Changes

The virtual disk was in the Optimal state before the disk physical disk was failed

The virtual disk changes to a Degraded state in the Logical View.

The virtual disk was in the Degraded state before the disk physical disk was failed

The virtual disk changes to a Failed state in the Logical View.
