Viewing Physical Disk Properties

Use the Physical Disk Properties option to view the properties of a selected physical disk. Perform the following steps:

Note: You can also view physical disk properties in the . Use the Storage Array Profile when you want to view properties on all physical disks at once.

Select a physical disk in the Physical View, and select Physical Disk >> Properties.

Click Close to close the dialog.

Interpreting Physical Disk Properties

Because some fields in this dialog require no explanation, the table below focuses only on those fields that require additional detail.

Field

Description

Channel Location

The physical disk enclosure and slot location.

Example: Physical Disk at Enclosure 3, Slot 4

Channel/ ID

Displayed for SCSI physical disks. The  number is listed first, and then the .

Example: Channel 2/ ID 1

Status

Displayed condition.

Example: Optimal

Raw Capacity

The full capacity of the physical disk, including any capacity that is reserved for  management and control.

Example: 8.479 GB

Usable Capacity

The capacity of the physical disk after space reserved for storage array management, and control is allocated on the physical disk.

Example: 8.44 GB

Product ID

The name of the physical disk.

Example: The Big Physical Disk

Manufacturer

The name of the physical disk manufacturer.

Example: Copas Inc.

Firmware Version

The firmware revision level.

Example: 7.0.4

Serial Number

The serial number of the physical disk.

Example: 72363

Vendor The vendor for the physical disk.

Note: This value is always "Not Available" for Serial ATA physical disks.

Example: DRIVESRUS

Date of Manufacture

The date when the physical disk was built.

Note: This value will always be "Not Available" for Serial ATA physical disks.

Example: January 23, 2001

World-Wide Name

A unique hexadecimal identifier for the physical disk.

Example: 313433363538373039333131

Physical Disk Type The  of the selected physical disk.

Example: Fibre Channel

Speed The speed of the physical disk.

Example: 15000 RPM

Mode The current mode for the physical disk.

Example: Hot Spare In Use

Associated Disk Group The number of the  associated with the selected physical disk.

Note: If there is no associated disk group, this field displays "None."
