The source virtual disk is available for read I/O requests only while a virtual disk copy has a status of In Progress, Pending, or . Write requests are allowed after the virtual disk copy is completed.

loss of access to data - Source virtual disks participating in a virtual disk copy are available for read I/O activity only while a virtual disk copy has a status of In Progress or Pending. Write requests are allowed after the virtual disk copy has completed.
If the source virtual disk has been formatted with a journaling
file system, any attempt to issue a read request to the source virtual disk might be rejected by the , and an error message might be displayed. The journaling
file system driver issues a write request before it attempts to issue the read request. The RAID controller module rejects the write request, and the read request may not be issued due to the rejected write request. This
situation might result in an error message being displayed, indicating that the source virtual disk is write protected.
To prevent this issue from occurring, do not attempt to access a source virtual disk participating in a virtual disk copy while the virtual disk copy has a status of In Progress. Also, ensure that read-only attribute for the is disabled after the virtual disk copy has completed to prevent error messages from being displayed.
Valid Source Virtual Disks
All valid source virtual disks on the storage array are displayed in the list in alphanumeric order; the you selected to start the
wizard is highlighted.
Important: The following virtual disks are not valid source virtual disks and
do not appear in the list:
A virtual disk currently in a
A virtual disk holding a legacy or
A virtual disk that is a source virtual disk or in another virtual disk copy with a status of In Progress, Failed, or Pending
You can also create a source virtual disk specifically for the virtual disk copy.

View Physical Disks Dialog
From this dialog, you can open the View Physical Disks dialog to view physical disk, slot, and capacity of the selected source virtual disk. This information can be used to copy high-access virtual disks to different for increased accessibility, or to copy virtual disks to a disk group that uses larger capacity physical disks.
