Resetting Battery Age

The system tracks the installation date for each battery installed. The date is not the same as the date of manufacture. Every day the storage array RAID controller modules compare the current date to the installation date for each battery. Click on the When a battery reaches the expiration age, a warning that the a cache battery has expired alerts the system administrator. When you replace a battery, you must set the installation date to the current date by resetting the battery age.

1

Click on the RAID Controller Module enclosure components icon to view the battery age.

2

Click on the battery icon to view individual batteries. If you have replaced a battery, click on Reset to reset the battery age.

When a RAID controller module is replaced, the battery installation date and expiration age are restored from the RAID controller module NVSRAM mirror metadata stored on the physical disks. If the battery is replaced at the same time, reset the battery age.

If you do not have smart batteries, the Battery Settings dialog will not display learn cycles. Resetting the battery age is the only available option.
