Manage ONTAP SDK 3.5 supports IBM N series systems.
Manage ONTAP SDK can be used with Data ONTAP 6.3 and later.
The version matrix shows the supported ONTAPI for each version of Data ONTAP, and shows the associated Manage ONTAP SDK along with Windows RPC compatibility.
Following are the key points to be noted while referring to the version matrix:
Each Manage ONTAP SDK is compatible with the earlier versions of the Manage ONTAP SDK.
For example, Manage ONTAP SDK 2.0P1 supports ONTAPI 1.0 through ONTAPI 1.7. Similarly, you can use Manage ONTAP SDK 2.0 to manage Data ONTAP 6.3 through Data ONTAP 7.2. However, all new APIs in the SDK are supported on the corresponding Data ONTAP version onward and later.
All the Data ONTAP versions are backward compatible with respect to the APIs (exceptions to this are stated clearly).
For example, Data ONTAP 7.2 supports all the APIs from Data ONTAP 6.3 or later. That is, an application built for Data ONTAP 7.1 using SDK 1.5 works with Data ONTAP 7.2 or later. However, you must upgrade the SDK from SDK 1.5 to either SDK 1.6 or SDK 2.0 if you want to use the new Data ONTAP 7.2 APIs.
