Missing Disk Group

What Caused the Problem?

The storage array has detected that all of the physical disks associated with a disk group are missing. The Recovery Guru Details area provides specific information you will need as you follow the recovery steps.

 Caution: Electrostatic discharge can damage sensitive components. Always use proper antistatic protection when handling components. Touching components without using a proper ground may damage the equipment.

Recovery Steps

If... Then...
You want to retain the disk group on this array

OR

You want to export the disk group to a different storage array

Go to step 2.
You DO NOT want to retain the disk group in this array

OR

You cannot complete a Disk Group Export because you do not have the physical disks in your possession

a From the Modify tab, click the Delete Disk Groups and Virtual Disks link.

Select the missing disk group  from the list and delete it.

Go to step 4.

If... Then...
The physical disks associated with the disk group have been removed Reinsert all of the missing physical disks associated with this disk group into the original slots.

Wait until the disk group and its associated virtual disks display optimal status, and then go to step 3.

One or more expansion enclosures associated with the disk group does not have power Check to see that the each expansion enclosure power supply is properly connected to an operating power source, has the power switch in the ON position, and has an optimal status (a separate problem will be displayed in the Summary area for a power supply that is not optimal).
If... Then...
You find a power problem Correct the problem and go to step 4.
You cannot find a power problem Contact your technical support representative.

If... Then...
You want to export the disk group to a different storage array
a From the Support tab, click the Advanced Support Tasks link, and then click the Export Disk Group link.
b Follow the instructions in the Export Disk Group wizard to successfully export the disk group.
c Go to step 4.
You DO NOT want to export this disk group Go to step 4.

Click the Recheck button to rerun the Recovery Guru. The failure should no longer appear in the Summary area. If the failure appears again, contact your technical support representative.
