Unable to Update Remote Mirror

What Caused the Problem?

A storage array world-wide identifier change occurred on this storage array and it was unable to establish a connection and notify a remote storage array with mirror relationships of the change. The Recovery Guru Details area provides specific information you will need as you follow the recovery steps.

Important Notes

Recovery Steps

1

If there are other errors listed in the Recovery Guru Summary area, perform those recovery procedures before completing the steps in this procedure.

2

Save the current virtual disk configuration from the Storage Array Profile. This information will be used to determine the mirror relationships associated with the affected remote storage array so the configuration can be duplicated. To save the virtual disk information, select the Storage Array >> View >> Profile menu option and select the Virtual Disks tab. Use the Save As button to save the information to a file.

3

You must now re-create the mirror relationships for all mirrored virtual disks associated with the remote storage array. Use the file saved in Step 2 to determine which virtual disks are associated with the remote storage array. For each of these virtual disks, perform the following steps:

a

Delete the mirror relationship from the local storage array by highlighting the local virtual disk in the Array Management Window and selecting the Virtual Disk >> Remote Virtual Disk Mirroring >> Remove Mirror Relationship menu option.

Note: If there is a connection problem between the local and remote storage arrays, the mirror relationship on the remote storage array will not be removed. If the remote mirror relationship is displayed in the remote Array Management Window after the above action, highlight that virtual disk from the remote Array Management Window and select the Virtual Disk >> Remote Virtual Disk Mirroring >> Remove Mirror Relationship menu option. You must resolve the connection problem before the mirror relationship can be re-created. Check the Recovery Gurus on both the local and remote storage arrays for possible problems. If the Recovery Gurus do not show any problems, check for damaged fibre cables, loose connections, or a malfunctioning switch between the two storage arrays.

b

Using the file saved in Step 2 as a guide, re-create the mirror relationship by highlighting the virtual disk you wish to be the primary virtual disk on the local storage array and selecting the Virtual Disk >> Remote Virtual Disk Mirroring >> Create menu option.
