Upgrade Mirror Repository Virtual Disks: Introduction

Use this dialog to specify where to allocate capacity for the . You can choose from free capacity available on an existing , or you can choose to create a new disk group using any unconfigured capacity available on your . Perform the following steps:

Important: If there is not enough free capacity or unconfigured capacity available on your storage array, you will not be able to upgrade your Mirror Repository Virtual Disks. The node you select must have a minimum of 256 MB of available capacity.

Choose where you would like to place the Mirror Repository Virtual Disks: 

  • Use free capacity on same disk group (create individual ):

    This option is selected if you first highlighted a  for a disk group displayed in the Logical View of the  before entering the wizard. A list shows all of the Free Capacity nodes available for the select disk group, in addition to showing their capacities and  levels.

    Select a Free Capacity node, and click Next to create the new Mirror Repository Virtual Disks.

  • Use free capacity on different disk group (create individual virtual disks):

    This option becomes available if you highlighted a virtual disk in the Logical View of the Array Management Window before entering the wizard, and a Free Capacity node exists on a different disk group.

    A list shows all of the available Free Capacity nodes. Select a Free Capacity node, and click Next to create the new Mirror Repository Virtual Disks.

  • Use unconfigured capacity (create new disk group):

    This option is selected if you first highlighted the Unconfigured Capacity node in the Logical View or if you selected  in the Physical View before entering the wizard. This option is also the default selection if you have unconfigured capacity on the storage array but do not have free capacity on any existing disk groups.

    Note: Multiple Unconfigured Capacity nodes might be displayed if your storage array contains mixed . Each physical disk type has an associated Unfonfigured Capacity node if unassigned physical disks are available in the expansion enclosure.

    Select an Unconfigured Capacity node, and click Next to create the new Mirror Repository Virtual Disks using unconfigured capacity.

    The Upgrade Mirror Repository Virtual Disks: Create Disk Group dialog is displayed.
