Locating a Physical Disk

Use the Blink Physical Disk option to physically locate and identify one or more physical disks in a expansion enclosure by activating physical disk indicator lights. Perform the following steps:

To physically locate a physical disk or physical disks, select the physical disks in the Physical View, and select Physical Disk >> Blink >> Physical Disk.

The indicator lights on the selected physical disks blink.

When you have located the physical disks, click OK.

The indicator lights will stop blinking. If there are any other Blink operations (Blink Disk Group, Blink Storage Array, Blink Physical Disk Channels, or Blink Expansion Enclosure) currently being invoked from another , these indicator lights also stop blinking.

Note: If the indicator lights from the Blink Physical Disk operation do not stop blinking, select Stop All Indications to stop the process manually.

Stopping All Indicator Lights from Blinking

Normally, the indicator lights stop blinking when you click OK in the Blink Storage Array, Blink Physical Disk Channels, Blink Disk Group, Blink Expansion Enclosure, or Blink Physical Disk dialogs. Use the Stop All Indications option in the rare case that a Blink operation has not properly closed and the indicator lights on the  physical disks continue to blink.

From the , select Storage Array >> Blink >> Stop All Indications.

If indicator lights successfully stop blinking, a confirmation message is displayed.
