Use the Fail Physical Disk option to fail a selected disk physical disk or multiple disk physical disks.
Caution: Potential loss of data access.
- This operation could result in data loss or the loss of data
. Do not use this operation unless advised to do so by Recovery Guru. - This operation fails when a
modification operation is in progress. Conditions in which data loss will occur:
- Failure of a single disk physical disk in a
virtual disk - Failure of a single disk physical disk in a
virtual disk that has a status, if the disk physical disk failed is the mirror disk physical disk of another failed disk physical disk - Failure of a single disk physical disk in a
or virtual disk that has a Degraded status - Failure of two or more disk physical disks in a RAID 3, RAID 5, or RAID 6 virtual disk that has an
status Conditions in which a loss of data redundancy will occur:
- Failure of a single disk physical disk in a RAID 1/10 virtual disk
- Failure of a single disk physical disk in an RAID 3 or Optimal RAID 5 virtual disk that has an Optimal status
- Failure of two disk physical disks in an RAID 6 virtual disk that has an Optimal status

In the Physical View, select one or more disk physical disks, and select Advanced >> Recovery >> Fail disk physical disk. |
