Deleting Virtual Disks

Use the Delete Virtual Disks option to delete   that have the following conditions:

Using this option results in an increase of free capacity in the   or additional unconfigured capacity if you delete all virtual disks in a disk group. Perform the following steps:

 Caution: Risk of data loss – Deleting virtual disks causes loss of all data on those virtual disks. Before performing this operation, perform the following tasks:

In the Logical View, select a virtual disk.

Select Virtual Disk >> Delete.

The Delete Virtual Disks dialog appears.

Click Delete.

The Confirm Delete Virtual Disk(s) dialog appears.

Either select all the virtual disks in the list that you want to delete or click Select All to highlight all virtual disks, and click OK.

Note:

  • Disk groups cannot be selected.
  • Press Ctrl-mouse click to select nonadjacent virtual disks or press Shift-mouse click to select adjacent virtual disks.
  • Only virtual disks that can be deleted are displayed in the list.

Type yes, and click OK.

The Delete Virtual Disk-Progress dialog is displayed while all the virtual disks are being deleted. The following table shows additional conditions.

If a deleted virtual disk was:

The only virtual disk in the disk group

  • The physical disks associated with the deleted virtual disk return to an Unassigned state in the Physical View.
  • The disk group is removed from the Logical View.
  • The raw capacity of the newly   is added to the Unconfigured Capacity node in the Logical View.

The size of the   is increased if the deleted virtual disk was adjacent to a Free Capacity node in the disk group. Otherwise, a new Free Capacity node is created.

If you see system error messages relating to any deleted virtual disks, reconfigure or reboot your   system to permanently remove any system information about the virtual disks.
