Deleting a Missing Virtual Disk

Use the Delete Virtual Disks option to delete a  . Ensure that the missing virtual disk is no longer required before attempting to delete, because this option permanently removes it from the configuration.

Deleting Missing Virtual Disks in the Logical/Physical View

Perform the following steps:

 Caution: Risk of data loss – If you delete a missing virtual disk, you permanently remove the virtual disk from the configuration. Any associated   , or   are also deleted. Do not delete missing virtual disks before you confirm that the virtual disks are no longer required. For information on recovering missing virtual disks, see Learn About Missing Virtual Disks.

Create a storage array all support data collection to identify the World Wide Identifier (WWI) for the virtual disk.

In the Logical View, select a missing virtual disk.

Select Virtual Disk >> Delete.

The Delete Virtual Disks dialog appears.

Click Delete.

The Confirm Delete Virtual Disk(s) dialog appears.

To permanently delete the missing virtual disk from the configuration, type yes, and click OK.

If system error messages that relate to the deleted virtual disk appear, either reconfigure your   system or restart your host system to permanently remove any system information about the virtual disk.

If this was the last missing virtual disk under the Missing Virtual Disks group, the Missing Virtual Disks group is removed too.

Deleting Missing Virtual Disks in the Mappings View

Perform the following steps:

Select the defined mapping to the missing virtual disk in the Defined Mappings pane, and select Mappings >> Remove.

Important: If the selected mapping is associated with a   and one or more of its hosts has specific mappings, the host group does not move back under the  . However, unless specific virtual disk-to-LUN mappings are defined for the host group or its hosts, other hosts in the   do not have access to any virtual disks.

Click Yes to remove the mapping.

The defined mapping to the missing virtual disk is removed and does not associate with its respective host group or host. If the missing virtual disk has no other associations, such as a snapshot or snapshot repository virtual disk, it is removed from the storage array.

If you see system error messages relating to the deleted virtual disk, reconfigure or reboot your host system to permanently remove any system information about the virtual disk.
