Checking Data Redundancy on a Disk Group

Use the Check Disk Group Consistency option to check the  on a selected  only when instructed to do so by the Recovery Guru.

Important:

1

Select a single disk group in the Logical View; then select Advanced >> Recovery >> Check Disk Group Consistency.

2

Click Yes.

3

Click Start.

The Check Consistency operation begins. The virtual disks in the disk group are sequentially scanned, starting from the top of the table in the virtual disk dialog. As each virtual disk is scanned:

  • The virtual disk is selected in the virtual disk table.
  • The status of the consistency check is shown in the associated status column.

    Status

    This status displays when

    Pending

This is the first virtual disk in the disk group to be scanned, but the Start button has not been selected to start the consistency check.

    or

The consistency check operation is being performed on other virtual disks in the disk group.

    Checking

The virtual disk is undergoing the consistency check.

    Passed

The virtual disk passed the consistency check. No inconsistencies were detected in the redundancy information.

The virtual disk failed the consistency check. Inconsistencies were detected in the redundancy information.

Media error The disk physical disk media is defective and therefore unreadable.
Consistency error The consistency is not what it should be for a given portion of the data.

Warning: A consistency error is potentially serious and could cause a permanent loss of data.

  • The progress bar indicates the completion percentage of the consistency check for a single virtual disk, with 100% being complete. If an operation error occurs before the consistency check completes, an error message is displayed.

Note: Selecting Cancel during a consistency check will close the dialog. Immediately running a consistency check on the same disk group might cause an error. To avoid this, wait one to two minutes before running another consistency check on the same disk group.
