What if a host or host group is not listed?

The Configure Host Access (Automatic) task window shows a list of and that the found automatically. For the storage management software to find a host automatically, the host must run the . The host-agent software is installed when you install the storage management software.

If any of these situations occur, the host might not show in the list initially. If necessary, correct the situation, and start the automatic discovery task. • The host-agent software might not have started on the host or it might have started after the automatic discovery task. Make sure that the host-agent software has started on the host, and then start the automatic discovery task.

• The host already has access to the storage array. Click the Configure tab, and then click Configure Host Access (Automatic). Click the View Configured Hosts link. The View Configured Hosts window shows a list of hosts or host groups that are configured with access to the storage array.
• A host name was not entered during the Configure Host Access (Automatic) task. You must configure the host access manually. Click the Configure Host Access (Manual) task from the Configure tab.

If none of these situations apply, you might have to configure the host access manually. Click the Configure Host Access (Manual) task from the Configure tab.

A manually defined host might not show in the list of hosts and host groups until 30 minutes have passed. Restart the storage management station to restart the host-agent software. The host appears in the list after restarting the storage management software.
