SNMP alert notifications are messages that let you know of possible problems with your . You can look at the Alert status line in the Status portlet of the Summary tab to make sure that SNMP alerts are currently enabled.

Set Up SNMP Alert Notifications


Important:

To set up SNMP alerts is a two-step procedure. First, you must set up SNMP alerts. Second, you must configure the management consoles to show the alerts sent by the SNMP service.

SNMP alerts are sent to the management consoles that you include in the list of configured SNMP addresses. To configure SNMP alert notifications, click the Tools tab, and then click the Set up SNMP alerts link. For each management console to which you want alert notifications sent, set the parameters as follows.

Community name
The ASCII string that identifies a known set of management consoles. The network administrator sets the community name in the management console. The default community name is public.
Trap destination
The or the name of a management console that runs an SNMP service.
